Words of Radiance - Part 1

Hello readers,

This post is about the book Words of Radiance - Part 1. The Words of Radiance - Part 1 picks up the story from where The Ways of Kings - Part 2 (check my previous post) left off. This time the author focuses the plot on Shallan more instead of Dalinar and Kaladin as the readers were given only a glimpse of Shallan's story in the previous instalment of the series. 

Shallan's story picks up aboard the ship she and Jasnah are sailing to reach the shattered plains in their quest to find the lost city of Urithiru. During this journey, a tragedy befalls Shallan that leaves her stranded and alone to defend herself in order to reach her destination. She is accompanied by her spren named Pattern who provides her with stunning powers of the Knight's Radiant provided Shallan tells lies. Kaladin in the meantime gets accustomed to his new life as Captain of Dalinar's guard and trains daily to discover more nuances to his stormlight powers. Dalinar hatches a plan to undermine Sadeas that involves his son Adolin. The readers also get to read the long awaited showdown between Szeth - the assassin in white - and Kaladin and Dalinar. The author also dedicates sections of the book to describe the life and traditions of Parshendi which is fascinating to read.

In all, the Words of Radiance - Part 1 is a well written, engrossing book that further expands the lore of the stormlight archive series. My detailed Goodreads review of this book can be accessed using the link below,
